Step 1 – Location, location, location
You will need to decide where geographically you would like your holiday destination to be. A big deciding factor is how far away you want it to be from your home? And whether you prefer coast or rural countryside, quiet retreat or family friendly with lots of activities, there’ll be a place that’s perfect for you as a holiday getaway.
Step 2 – Finding your ideal holiday park
Finding a holiday park in your desired location is the next stage of consideration. To narrow your search you will need to consider what facilities and activities are important to you on a holiday park, do you require a pet friendly park and what time of year do you want to use it (parks open at varying times).
For extra peace of mind, choose a holiday park that is approved under the NCC Holiday Home Ownership scheme.
When budgeting, it is important to factor in not just the purchase price of the caravan holiday home but also the annual running costs (on many parks, you may choose to offset these by renting out your holiday home). This will include:
- Annual pitch fees. These depend on the type of park, the particular pitch, the facilities
- Utilities (water, gas and electricity). These vary according to use and efficiency
Step 3 – Choosing your perfect caravan holiday home/lodge
There is a fabulous choice of caravan holiday homes and lodges to choose from and your chosen park will be able to show you the new and pre-owned caravan holiday homes they have for sale and what pitches are available. Be sure to select an NCC Approved holiday home so that you can have confidence that it meets all the necessary standards and always ask to see the park’s Licence Agreement.
